What we collect

Analytics without cookies

We use Vercel Web Analytics. It sets no cookie, reads no cookie, and writes nothing to your browser's storage. There is no consent banner on this site because there is nothing on your device for you to consent to.

A page view sends the path you opened, the referring page, and the details every web request carries anyway — browser, operating system, device type, and an IP address used to derive a country and then discarded. To tell a returning visitor from a new one within the same day, Vercel derives a one-way hash from that request. It is rotated on a daily cycle, is never stored on your device, and cannot be reversed, linked to you, or followed to any other site. We do not send a name, email address or account ID, because the site has none.

No new company learns anything by this. Vercel already hosts the site, so every request you make reaches it regardless; analytics adds a purpose, not a recipient. Processing is covered by Vercel's privacy policy.

Events we record

Alongside page views we record product events: scare completion or abandonment, intensity and safety-control changes, link creation and impact, private report refreshes, Wrong Picture starts, resumes, completions, archive opens, results and shares, Wait outcomes, feed scares, Slow Burn completion, October case opens, satisfaction ratings and automatic WebGL quality reduction. Event properties describe the experience — level, scene, score or timing window — never the person being scared. These are counted the same cookieless way as a page view, and none of them identifies you.

Your settings

Sound, scares, intensity, local streaks, completed modes, unfinished Wrong Picture games and incident numbers live in your browser's local storage. They never reach our servers, and clearing browser data erases them. These are functional local settings — not cookies, and not advertising of any kind.

We keep up to eight unfinished puzzles on this device, including guesses, score and the original round deadline. Completing a puzzle clears its saved progress; Start over replaces it. Nothing resumes until you choose Continue, and expired rounds resume silently.

The closed waitlist

Before the site opened, the waitlist stored an email address and the referring page in Supabase. The form and its public endpoint are now closed. Any addresses already present are for the one opening notice promised at collection and should be deleted after that notice; they are never sold or repurposed.

What we never do

We do not set a single cookie. We do not request your camera or microphone. We do not record your reaction. We do not store IP addresses ourselves. We do not run advertising or sell anything to anyone. Whatever noise you made, nobody has it.

Opting out

There is no switch to find, because there is nothing set on your machine to switch off. If you would rather not be counted at all, any content blocker that blocks analytics requests will stop the beacon, and the site behaves identically without it. Clearing your browser data for this site removes the local settings above.

The Management will not notice, and would not comment if it did.
