Terms of Scare

The terms under which this Service will frighten you. Every commitment below is implemented in the software, which is the only part of this document The Management considers binding on itself.

Nature of the Service

The Service shows you something calm. At a time of its choosing, the Service stops doing that. This is not a defect. This is the entire product, and you were told.

Consent

Nothing begins on its own. No sound is produced, and no audio device is even opened, until you press something. Should you press nothing, the Service will wait indefinitely. It has nowhere to be.

Withdrawal of Consent

Esc terminates any sequence in progress, immediately, including one already underway. The Scares switch disables the frightening portion of the Service entirely, leaving the pleasant portion intact. The Sound switch does what it says. Your choices persist between visits, because being asked twice is its own kind of horror.

Intensity

You select the ceiling before anything happens, on a scale of one to five. The Service will not exceed it. Level 1 is genuinely gentle, and The Management would like it noted that selecting it is permitted, if disappointing.

Health and Safety

The Service contains sudden flashing images and loud audio. It is not recommended for persons with photosensitive epilepsy or a heart condition. Where your device requests reduced motion, the Service obeys without being asked: the strobe, the shaking and the doubled scare are withheld, and what remains is still a complete experience. This clause is the one clause on this page that is not a joke.

Your Data

The Service stores no account, sets no advertising cookie, and never requests your camera or microphone. Should you volunteer an email address, it is used once, to tell you the door has opened, and for nothing else, ever.

Liability

The Management accepts no responsibility for spilled drinks, startled pets, colleagues in adjacent rooms, or anything you may have said aloud. Recordings of such utterances are not made, which you may consider a mercy.

Complaints

Complaints may be submitted at any time. They are filed under N, for Noted. No complaint has ever been upheld. The complaints procedure is maintained because removing it would look worse.

The Figure

Questions regarding the figure standing in the water are outside the scope of these Terms. The figure has been spoken to. The figure disagreed.
